Seattle Remains Strong

According to MSNBC's report on second-quarter government figures, 5 out of the top 20 housing markets in the country are in Washington State with Seattle taking the #17 spot. Our one year gain was marked at 9.9% with our 5 year gain at 66.8%. Ranking the State 3rd overall in appreciation.

This is great news for Seattle. We consistently defy the national trends of a cooling market and our home appreciation rates continue to be strong.

Despite the tightening credit policies and mortgage changes during the second quarter, there are only significant declines "in areas with weak economies or where price increases were particularly dramatic since June". According to James B Lockhart, the Director of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.

Seattle has neither of these problems, so we can look forward to continued growth in real estate.
