According to Policom Corp., Seattle is the strongest local economy in America! Go Seattle go!
Policom Corp., an independent economic research firm that specializes in analyzing local and state economies, used 23 economic factors over a 20 year period to make its comparisons. They studied 366 metropolitan areas and 576 micropolitan areas and we came out on top of the metropolitan area scoreboard. Moving up from our 12th place position from last year.
What makes us best? Seattle has had quick and consistent growth in size, has a great economic foundation, and has weathered the recession well.
Four other metropolitan areas in Washington finished in the top 50 including Olympia at #14, Portland/Vancouver/Hillsboro at #24, Bellingham at #42 and Mount Vernon/Anacortes at #47. And Ellensburg came in at #26 on the micropolitan list.
